Meet the Author - Danielle Jawando author of And The Stars Were Burning Brightly Online

Our online Meet the Author event with Danielle Jawando author of And The Stars Were Burning Brightly will take place on 30 September at 3:00pm.

And The Stars Were Burning Brightly begins when Nathan discovers that his older brilliant brother Al has taken his own life. Nathan is devastated but begins a quest to discovered what led to Al’s shocking action. He’s joined in his attempt to find out what happened by Al’s classmate Megan and what they discover leads them to question everything they’ve believed.

Danielle describes her recently published novel as ‘a story about loss, love, understanding, and the importance of speaking up when all you want to do is shut down’. It's set in ‘Manchester and there's nowhere near enough northern literature on the shelves.’ It also explores ‘some really current and timely issues such as mental health, suicide, growing up in the age of social media and finding hope in the darkest of places.’

Danielle’s debut novel has been acclaimed by Patrice Lawrence, Melvin Burgess and Alex Wheatle.

Please be aware that the novel explores themes such as suicide and bullying that some people may find upsetting.

This event is only open to Manchester Met students (and staff) and there are details on how to book a place on the library website.
